About Wimmera South West
The Wimmera South West area comprises 10 local government areas including Corangamite, Glenelg, Hindmarsh, Horsham, Moyne, Northern Grampian, Southern Grampians, Warrnambool, West Wimmera, and Yarriambiack.
The area is located on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung, Gunditjmara, Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia, Yupakulk, Eastern Maar, Dja Dja Wurrung and Djab Wurrung peoples.
The ever-changing landscape stretches from the majestic sandstone mountains of the Grampians, across agricultural plains to the South Australia border and south to the tumbling sea.
The Wimmera is one of nine districts in Victoria used for weather forecasting by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. The Wimmera River flows from the mighty Grampians towards Lake Hindmarsh, with the stunning Rocklands Reservoir the main water storage of the area.
Recreation, entertainment and nature
We have offices in Horsham and Warrnambool, and each town has its own unique appeal.
Horsham is the largest city in the Wimmera South West area, and is located at the centre of the region.
Lively, diverse and inclusive, Horsham is a business, service and entertainment hub renowned for its outstanding fishing, boating and recreational activities. There is always something going on, and you won’t want to miss out.
Warrnambool is Victoria's largest coastal city outside Port Phillip Bay. Located at the western end of the spectacular Great Ocean Road, along the infamous Shipwreck Coast, this stunning city by the sea has undeniable appeal.
Surrounded by breathtaking natural wonders, and part of the ‘whale corridor’ showcasing the annual migration of whales from the Antarctic to warmer waters along the coast, Warrnambool is dynamic, fast-growing and consistently ranked as one of the most liveable locations in Australia.
