All new parents can attend a First Time Parent Group. These groups are a great way to help you learn how to look after your new baby and to get to know other families in your local community, in a relaxed and supportive environment. First Time Parent Groups are for both parents and dads are encouraged to attend.
First Time Parent Groups are generally run by a qualified Maternal and Child Health nurse and cover a lot of topics, from breastfeeding and sleep-and-settling, to family relationships and wellbeing. Whilst they may differ depending on the area you live in, things that you might do at a First Time Parent Group include learning about baby massage and how to keep your baby safe.
The groups generally run for six to eight weeks and involve other parents from your local community who have also just recently given birth to their first child. First Time Parent Groups are free to attend.
