Webinar topics include implementing the Tutor Learning Initiative in
specialist school settings
A range of webinars, including one exploring implementation of the Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI) in a specialist school setting, are now available for tutors to view on the Arc website.
The webinars are part of professional learning available to tutors to support implementation and delivery of the TLI.

Tutors can view the free webinars at a time that suits them. The webinars run for 45 minutes to one hour.
Hume Valley School’s approach to the TLI
Hume Valley School’s approach to implementing the TLI in a specialist setting is the focus of one of the webinars on the TLI Hub.
In the 45-minute presentation, Hume Valley School shares profession lessons from implementation, so tutors and schools can learn from them.
The presentation covers:
- the school context
- staff and student selections
- assessments
- tutoring interventions – planning, intensity and duration
- methods of ongoing monitoring.
Senior Education Improvement Leader Vivienne Tellefson said all schools could learn from Hume Valley School’s approach.
Vivienne said the school’s approach exemplified how to:
- establish a genuine partnership between teachers and tutors
- make assessment accessible and useful for classroom teachers
- ensure tutor insights and strategies are shared with teachers and leaders
- build in evaluation from the outset
- transition students off the TLI back in to classrooms.
Principal at Hume Valley School, Diane Bassett, said the initiative was have a had a positive impact across the school.
'Our teachers have really embraced the initiative and appreciated the targeted intervention and support, which has enriched the learning experience for all students at Hume Valley School,’ Diane said.
`It has allowed the school to assess the intervention to ensure it is embedded in classrooms and sustained beyond the life of the initiative.’

All professional learning webinars from terms 1 and 2 have been recorded and are available for tutors to access on the TLI Arc Channel.
Tutors can also access the TLI Hub.
The TLI Hub contains self-paced professional learning resources and guidance to support tutors to build and refresh their small group teaching skills, including professional reading and videos.
Tutors can access the TLI Hub throughout the year and complete modules most relevant to them, at their own pace.
The TLI Hub should be opened in Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge, not Internet Explorer.
