Financial help for apprentices

Your employer

Most modern awards require employers to pay excess costs incurred for travel to attend block release training or reimburse tuition fees. To find out whether you are covered by such an award:

In some cases, employers will voluntarily pay tuition fees so you are encouraged to ask whether they would consider this.

Car registration discount

Trade apprentices are eligible for a 50% discount on a 12-month car registration. This is a saving of up to $408.20.

Trade support loans

Trade support loans are paid in instalments totalling up to $20,000 over the life of an Australian apprenticeship. These loans are intended to assist apprentices with everyday costs while they complete their apprenticeship. For more information contact your apprenticeship network provider
